FAMILY FUN EVENTS

Free Fun for the Whole Family

Family Fun events are free PTA sponsored activities throughout the school year for Chaparral families to spend time together and do something fun! Many parent volunteers are needed to put these events together. If you are interested in being a part of the Family Fun Committee, please contact our chairperson, Elizabeth Oyster for details.

Students Lend a Helping Hand

Community Unity is a Chaparral PTA program designed to serve our community and surrounding cities while teaching our children the importance of selflessness.  Students will learn that support for others does not always have to be monetary, but instead can be as simple as the donation of one's time.

Each month throughout the school year, Chaparral students will focus on supporting a different cause or organization.  Sometimes this will require parent involvement in the form of new or used donations, and other times students will simply be taking time during their recess, if they so choose, to craft or create an item to be donated.  Some examples of hands-on events include preparing care packages and notes of gratitude for active duty military, student-led coin drives for the "Adopt-an-Animal" program at the Santa Ana Zoo, and creating handmade Valentine's cards for senior citizens.

Check our Community Unity page and your students Champion folder for upcoming opportunities.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Community Unity Chair, Ashley Teacher, if there is ever a question about an event or organization.

ABILITY AWARENESS

Educational Fun for Your Students

This is an annual event here at Chaparral where the students participate in various age-appropriate stations that will provide them an avenue to explore the world of individuals who, in their day-to-day lives, live with physical and/or developmental challenges. This program helps participants to feel more comfortable around people with disabilities and, in turn, teaches the students about tolerance, comfort zones, and inclusion, as well as give them the opportunity to change how one views a person or child with a disability.

This year’s event will take place on Friday, February 7th! We are always looking for volunteers to help setup and run the various stations throughout the day and week. If you are interested in being a part of the Ability Awareness Committee, please contact Cara Giovani.
